Twill Weave Stainless Steel Wire Mesh

Twill weave stainless steel wire mesh uses a two-over, two-under pattern with staggered intersections. YueChu Metal supplies woven mesh from China for industrial buyers, distributors and equipment manufacturers. Send your SS304 or SS316 grade, target opening, wire diameter and finished dimensions for a specification-based quotation.

How it is woven

Two wires over, two wires under

The 2/2 interlacing creates offset intersections and a characteristic diagonal pattern. With equal mesh counts and wire diameters in both directions, the mesh has nominal square openings.

Twill construction can accommodate relatively heavier wire at finer mesh counts. The useful opening, open area and handling characteristics depend on the complete specification—not the weave name alone.

Specification-based sourcing

Specify your stainless steel twill weave mesh

Send a complete mesh specification or your target opening and application. We will review the weave combination before quotation. A plain-weave reference size is not automatically a twill-weave size.

Information to include in a twill weave wire mesh inquiry
ParameterWhat to provide
Stainless steel gradeSpecify SS304, SS316 or the exact grade required by your drawing.
Mesh countState the count per linear inch in both warp and weft directions.
Wire diameterProvide wire diameter in mm or inches; identify both directions if different.
Clear openingState the target aperture in mm or microns, together with acceptable tolerances.
Finished dimensionsRoll width and length, slit width, sheet size or cut-part drawing.
Quantity & deliveryNumber of rolls, area or pieces; destination country, postal code or port, and delivery date.
Inspection & packingIdentify dimensional checks, material documents, edge condition and packing requirements.

Mesh range, dimensional tolerances, stock, MOQ and lead time are confirmed for each inquiry. Submit your required combination for confirmation before ordering.

Use the square woven wire mesh size chart to compare wire diameter and nominal opening. The chart is a geometry reference; confirm the twill construction separately rather than treating each pictured sample as twill mesh.

Twill vs plain vs twill Dutch weave

Construction differences—not equivalent product specifications
WeaveConstructionSelection focus
Plain weaveOne over, one under; open square mesh with equal geometry.General screening and a balanced opening/wire combination.
Twill weave On this pageTwo over, two under; staggered, open square-aperture construction.Review when a fine opening calls for relatively heavier wire.
Twill Dutch weaveDense filter cloth with different warp and weft geometry.Specify retention and flow requirements; square-aperture calculations do not apply.

A weave pattern alone does not establish strength, pressure capacity or filtration performance. Compare the actual geometry, material and operating conditions.

Application review

Match the mesh to the process

These are potential use cases for specification review, not performance guarantees. Include your process conditions so the mesh and its support arrangement can be assessed together.

Fine screening & sieving
Review aperture, wire diameter and support conditions for particle sizing and separation.
Filtration & filter support
Define the medium, target retention, flow and pressure conditions before selecting a mesh.
Equipment screens
Specify the opening, finished dimensions and mounting method for equipment integration.
OEM mesh components
Submit a drawing for cut sheets, strips or discs; confirm edge and assembly requirements.

For corrosive media or demanding cleaning cycles, include temperature, chemicals and exposure conditions. Review SS304 vs SS316 before choosing the grade.

Wholesale & OEM requirements

Rolls, cut sheets and drawing-based pieces

  • Rolls and slit rolls. Specify width, length, quantity and edge condition.
  • Sheets and cut pieces. Send finished dimensions or a drawing, with quantity per size.
  • OEM purchasing. Identify the assembly method, tolerances and repeat-order requirements.

Cutting and fabrication feasibility depend on the selected mesh. Confirm material, dimensions and packing in the quotation before issuing a purchase order.

Export purchasing checklist

From mesh requirement to a clear RFQ

YueChu Metal is a China-based supplier. Buyers in the United States, Canada, the UK, Germany, Spain and Australia can use the same technical checklist; shipping and documentation are reviewed for the destination and order.

  1. Define the specification.

Confirm 2/2 twill square mesh, exact stainless steel grade, mesh count, wire diameter and target opening.

  2. Agree inspection and packing.

Identify aperture and wire checks, dimensions, material documentation, roll identification and protection needed for transport. Document availability must be confirmed; certification is not assumed.

  3. Confirm the commercial terms.

Provide quantity, destination country and postal code or port, requested delivery terms and required date. Confirm price unit, MOQ and lead time in the offer.

Buyer questions

Twill Weave Wire Mesh FAQ

What is twill weave stainless steel wire mesh?

In a common 2/2 twill weave, each wire passes over two and under two crossing wires. The intersections are staggered, producing a diagonal pattern. Equal warp and weft counts and wire diameters form nominal square openings.

How is twill weave different from plain weave?

Plain weave uses a one-over, one-under pattern; common twill weave uses two-over, two-under. Twill can accommodate a relatively heavier wire at a given mesh count. Compare the complete wire and opening combination rather than assuming every twill mesh is stronger or finer.

Is twill weave the same as twill Dutch weave?

No. This page describes open square-aperture twill mesh. Twill Dutch weave uses a different warp and weft arrangement to form a dense filter cloth. A Dutch filter specification cannot be substituted with a square-mesh count alone.

How do I specify the opening size?

Provide the target clear opening, wire diameter and mesh count in both directions. For equal-count square mesh, the nominal opening in mm is 25.4 divided by mesh count minus wire diameter in mm. Final geometry and tolerances need order confirmation.

Does the opening size guarantee a filtration rating?

No. A nominal clear opening is a geometric dimension, not a guaranteed absolute or nominal filtration rating. Particle shape, operating conditions and the agreed test method affect separation performance. State any required retention test before quotation.

Can I request SS304 or SS316 twill weave mesh?

Yes. Include the exact grade and service environment in the inquiry. SS316 is often considered for more corrosive conditions, but grade suitability must be reviewed against the medium, temperature and cleaning process. Neither grade is suitable for every environment.

Can you quote rolls, cut sheets and OEM pieces?

Rolls, slit rolls, sheets and drawing-based cut pieces can be reviewed. Send finished dimensions, quantity, edge requirements and a drawing where applicable. Fabrication feasibility is confirmed for the selected mesh.

What are the price, MOQ and lead time?

Price, minimum order quantity, stock availability and lead time are confirmed for your grade, mesh geometry, dimensions and quantity. Include the quoted unit, packing, delivery terms and required date when comparing offers. No universal price list or stock range is published here.

What should buyers in North America, Europe and Australia include?

Buyers in the United States, Canada, the UK, Germany, Spain and Australia should include the destination country and postal code or port, requested delivery terms and any inspection or compliance requirements. Required documents and shipping arrangements must be confirmed for the order; certification is not assumed.
